Week 7 Wrap Up

This week we talked about a lot of things that were very interesting. I also loved how we got to interact with our classmates. I know we always get to do this, but this week was very different. The group I was with had a lot of new ideas and they also helped me understand a lot of things that I didn't notice when I watched the videos that the professor assigned us. On Tuesday we watched a video and it was a Pecha Kucha example by Stacey Wharton and the video was about Failing to Succeed. In my opinion, I thought this week’s assignments were pretty good and entertaining. The reason why is because they were not boring, they actually caught my attention, especially the video by Stacey Wharton. This video talked a lot about how to succeed when you fail. One of the best parts that I loved about this video was when she mentioned the thing about famous people. While Stacey was talking she was talking about how famous people also fail and will continue failing. The reason why I loved thi...

Week 6 Wrap up

This week we had the opportunity to talk about many different things. For example, on Thursday we had to read about the GTD method and growth mindset. My favorite thing about this week was when we got to talk more in depth about growth mindset because of how relatable it was to me. I also was very interested when we talked about the GTD method. The reason why I was very interested was because of the fact that it helped me a lot, especially because I struggle a lot reading articles and this reading had to do with it. The first article we read talked about a growth mindset in humans’ brain and how it affects its positivity. In this article growth mindset is essentially very crucial for everyone, according to a study written about by Jason Moser and his colleagues at Michigan State University. The phrase "growth mindset" simply refers to a person's understanding and comprehension of failure, blunders, and challenging work. A person with a fixed perspective doe...

Week 5 Wrap Up

This week Professor Weir assigned a few readings and via video for us to watch. The video we watched was about the power of believing you can improve which I thought was pretty cool. The first article that we read on Tuesday was about feedback, and lastly the article of Thursday that was about “can we stop talking about learning loss.” My favorite article of this week was the one about learning loss. The reason why it’s because I feel like it was a very important topic to talk about because I think every single student in the room went through the same situation and could relate and find the article very interesting.      In the article called: “Can We Stop PleaseTalking about Learning Loss” by Jo Boaler talks about what students had to go through during the pandemic Covid in 2020. It also mentions things like, students who struggled because their families were low income and they couldn't afford a computer, teachers putting a lot of effort and othe...

Throughout my life, I have always been underestimated by my talent and by who I am as a person. I've always been a humble person, especially when it comes to something that I know I'm good at. I'm very perfectionist as a person, which is good but bad at the same time because of how much you have to go through in life. It's always been really hard for me to accept that I failed or to accept that I'm doing something wrong because of how carefully I want to be with everything I do. My entire life has been really hard because I am a negative person and I struggle with motivation when someone humiliates me, or someone doubts about me and it's really hard for me to succeed because all I think is negative.       When I was young, and I started my career as a volleyball player, I struggled a lot. I've always been pretty short compared to the other players that played my position. To be able to play my position, you either had to be tall or jump really high, ...

Jaciangelys Diaz Prof. Weir FS-102 10 February 2023        Week 4 Wrap-Up This week even though we didn't spend the same amount of time in class and did not read a lot of articles I still learned a lot of things. On Tuesday we went to a meeting organized by Niki Fjeldal and Brian Collingwood and in my opinion it was a very helpful meeting. On Thursday we also got to share ideas with the new people in the class and it was very fun. We went over the “WWW Feedback Strategy” article and it helped a lot especially when we had to comment on everyone else's blogs and writings. It was fun. The most interesting thing about this week was the meeting we had on Tuesday with Nicki Fjeldal and Collingwood because it was very helpful. The reason why it was helpful is because everything we talked about was about how to and when you could declare your major. We also talked about a lot of the resources we have on campus that we could use. I really liked this ...

Wrap-Up

During this week we learned a lot and we also read articles. This week everything was different, and I really liked it. Professor Weir changed the dynamic and it was so much fun. We had the opportunity to seat with different people and share our ideas with them. It was also like a review of last's weeks just a little different. Last week we read about similar things, but the difference was that that everything was positive. For example, John McNally's article was an article that represented how people can success after every failure. Another example was Sarah Lewis' video that was another example of how people can be successful by mastering things. The difference between this week was that we read an article by Louis Hass, and everything wasn't about motivation and positiveness it was more personal.      The article is called "We should Bring Back The F''. In this article, Louis Hass (the author) is a history professor at Middle Tennesse...
