       Week 4 Wrap-Up

This week even though we didn't spend the same amount of time in class and did not read a lot of articles I still learned a lot of things. On Tuesday we went to a meeting organized by Niki Fjeldal and Brian Collingwood and in my opinion it was a very helpful meeting. On Thursday we also got to share ideas with the new people in the class and it was very fun. We went over the “WWW Feedback Strategy” article and it helped a lot especially when we had to comment on everyone else's blogs and writings. It was fun.

The most interesting thing about this week was the meeting we had on Tuesday with Nicki Fjeldal and Collingwood because it was very helpful. The reason why it was helpful is because everything we talked about was about how to and when you could declare your major. We also talked about a lot of the resources we have on campus that we could use. I really liked this meeting because we also got to share our thoughts and opinions about last semester too.

In my opinion I think it is a very important thing to talk about majors because there's a lot of people that aren't sure about what they want to do. I am one of those people, I kind of have an idea of what I would like to know but I am not a hundred percent sure of it. While they were discussing the topic about majors and minors they made a kahoot game asking questions about how many people were sure about their major and it was very interesting. I was very worried because I thought I was going to be the only one that wasn't sure, but when I looked at the screen there were more people that weren't sure and that made me feel a lot better. She also mentioned that we did not have to declare our major until the second semester of our sophomore year and that relieved a lot of my stress because I got time to think about it.

At the meeting we got to talk about last semester too and I thought that it was also very important because everybody was on the same path as me. Last semester was not a great semester for me, I stressed a lot and I also got home sick. My classes were not hard but it was very hard for me to focus and to balance the time between volleyball practices and homewors. When my season was over I struggled a lot with managing my free time because I was so used to being busy all the time that I felt like I had nothing to do. With that, everytime I had homework I procrastinated because I thought I had a lot of time and it wasn't the best because I ended up doing very poorly on the work.

In conclusion I can say that having that meeting with Nicki, helped a lot. Even though we didn't spend a lot of time in the classroom reading articles I feel like I got something out of it. Having the opportunity to share our thoughts with other students that are going through the same stuff as you is a very good way to relieve stress and anxiety when you feel overwhelmed.

This is a picture that I thought it was related to this week's meeting.

  1. Hi Jacy,
Don't stress about your major or minor! You still have time. A lot of my friends still do not have any idea. At the end of the day, just do what makes you happy.
